That is narrow but you may be able to unscrew the two brackets holding the shore power cable (black, left side) and reposition it and drop the AF in there. I don't know why they are pulling the black cord forward like that but if you internal mount you're going to redo that anyways.

Here is some pics of my install. I also have a pc hw50c behind the shore cord. I used male female 50 amp so that I can bypass hughes and or shore cord .

Hope they don't yap at me, but it's not listed in their list of forbidden items. Got to the Vineyards in Grapevine, hooked up power and turned on ACs, and was showing voltage on one line (with two ACs) fluctuating between 107 and 109. Went and grabbed the autoformer from the jeep and put it in place. One leg is right on the edge, sometimes boosted, sometimes not, but the other leg is being boosted all the time, up around 120 now (voltage had recovered a bit before I hooked it up and was 110-113).

When I get home, installing in electrical compartment will be a priority before my next trip.

Late to this thread, but for the sake of offering options to future readers (and a newbie boosting his stats!), mine is mounted on TOP of the cord reel. Even had room for the bin of adaptors on top. Also shown in this pic is the method of connecting my autoformer (on the back wall) and my home-made pedestal power checker (foreground)

Interesting…. I was not able to stack mine like that as the Ventana FWS is electric and has a bar across the top of the drivers side compartments that prevent you from easily doing that…

Not sure how/where I'm going to shoehorn it in, but after this start, as soon as I get back to my nice air conditioned RV garage, a permanent mount is next on my list. This has been the lowest voltage I've seen to date.

It is my understanding that the Autoformer recommendation is to mount the unit Upright.

Probably more important for outdoor installations…

Have another look at the recommendations:
