@Jim @GlampDaddy

Hope Y'all are OK, and survived with little to no damage, but reality from weather reports, says I may be wrong!
I'm sure y'all are busy, but was just checking in to make sure Y'all are OK!
Please post an update!
We here at RVForum are keeping you in our prayers🙏

Hey @Jabber Jaw! All is well with both of us. Thanks for checking!

GlampDady,
We just closed on a cabin in Franklin NC on Thumpers Trail. Most likely will be seeing you next summer, if you are there?

Hello Jim--

The Not so tall Texan, Laurent here. How did you, Trish and Ryker and Deer Spring fare with Helene? As you know, my wife and I are booked for six nights, arriving Oct. 5th. We're in West Jefferson, NC now, but heard a whole lot of roads are closed and there have been reports of mudslides so naturally we're concerned.

What a beautiful area for a cabin! We try to get by here a couple of times each year. Hope to catch you next time!

You forgot to mention your distillery. It would guarantee a few visitors :)

As a former liveaboard sailor on the Gulf Coast of Texas, I've had to make hurricane preparations more often than I care to (or can) remember. But, the last thing I ever thought I would have to do is prepare for a hurricane at Franklin, NC, some 500 miles north of Helene's looming landfall! The coach is full of diesel, the toad was filled-up yesterday, the camp chairs are all put away, etc. Our site preps are complete.
The forecasters are claiming that this storm may be one for the record books. So, I say if you are in Helene's path...GTHO! And, if you can't, then be prepared.
Best wishes!
Hey Buddy--
If I'm correct, looks like you were camping at Jim's Deer Springs on Thursday, prepped for Helene. We are still camped in West Jefferson north of Franklin, NC. We are reserved at Deer Springs for arrival 10/6. I called Jim yesterday and left a message. I speculate good reason why we've not yet heard back. If you're still there, please send me and everyone an update.

Thank you,

Laurent

@Notsotalltexan - the park is fine, with no damage from the storm. Jim couldn't get back to you yesterday, but I saw him late last night and he says he will give you a call today. No problems with your reservation. Enjoy your stay!

Glad to hear our RV friends seemed to have weathered Hurricane Helene without major damage. And, happy to hear that Deer Springs appears to have escaped damage as well. LadyDi and I have been keeping folks out East in our prayers. We will continue to do so. 🙏

We recently sold the Mountain Aire and are in the final stage of selling our home up north, having relocated closer to family just south of Tacoma, WA. That said, we do miss the friends we made during our travels and at our place in Polson, MT.

Best regards to all and please stay safe.
