In light, you can "see in" through the hole. So,it's bad in that regard.

I'm planning to shove a bunch of lap seal in, rubber mallet hammer it closed best I can, lap seal it some more and the recaulk. Hope this buys me enough time to get it to a shop.

I have 2 trips lined up for mid June and July 4th so it may be a bit before I can get it in. Triage is complete. Field dressing on. Ambulance service is a long way out, maybe

As a retired heavy equipment operator I was sick the day a BFR (big flipping rock
) ran out in front of me. $3500 later the truck was fixed. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. View attachment 28127

I know it's killing you to look at it, but it doesn't appear that bad and you should be able to use it until fixed properly. Sorry for your misfortune.

@breal14 I can't tell what the surfaces look like but if they are or can be cleaned free of adhesive you might consider using EternaBond tape to seal the seam.

Got out this morning to do the repair.

The metal trim coupler was bent pretty bad and quite a few screws popped through their eyelets. I backed out as many screws as i could, mended the metal back to shape best i could with a screw driver and rubber mallet. I was able to re-poisition the coupler over the sideboard again.

I added lap seal under the screws i backed out and over the few i couldnt get to and tightened it down.

Then, lap sealed the side joints. Hope its water tight, a we are getting rain tomorrow.

I have more work to do regarding residue removal of the silicone tape, but i'm happy with the outcome for a first time diy. I'm going to get some white touchup paint and get rid of some of the scrape marks with some coverup.

still drying, fresh bead:
