..Wondering how many pieces it will be in if it ever arrives?
etrailer just says "not our problem"
Had I ordered it from Amazon it would have been here in 2 days.

I ordered an aviation part a few months ago, they shipped via USPS. No problem. It never showed, I wanted a replacement sent or a refund, they told me to file a claim with USPS. I said NO, YOU file the claim with USPS and get me what I paid for or refund it. I threatened to dispute the credit card payment but they didn't care. I filed the claim with USPS and they promptly paid me after the required amount of time to see if it delivers. Ordered the part from some other vendor. While USPS was a failure, as we know they are, the customer service aspect was an even larger failure. I'm sorry to hear eTrailer not handle this better.

When I ordered a brake controller for my toad on EBay. The Sender would pay for shipping which made it a good deal.
Then it took almost a month for me to get it. What happened is they put the weight really low to reduce the shipping cost. This raised red flags. The postman knew me and that I would pay the needed postal fees was probably the only reason I got it.

Amazon also sometimes uses usps
You can go into the Amazon app and deselect USPS as a shipper. While they can't give a 100% guarantee, especially where third parties are involved, they will use other than the agent you deselected if they can. I did it years ago after USPS lost or was slow to deliver a number of packages.

I've ordinarily never had any complaints w/ etrailer and don't really have here albeit Andy in customer service could use some inter personal training. He did say we've been experiencing a lot of delayed and lost shipments with USPS, which is I guess their way of gaslighting an issue which to me in an era where your competition has an advantage in the shipping dept. is not particularly reassuring. My main concern is the package has been handled more than it ordinarily should have and may come out of the box in pieces. USPS now has set a delivery date for today by 9 pm, so fingers crossed. Etrailer's problem is however, next time I find an identical item on Amazon I'm certainly not rolling the dice with the vendor shipping USPS.

I have had the experience where I ordered something from a business 10 miles away. They shipped it USPS. It went from 10 miles away down the full eastern seaboard to 1200 miles away. Then zig zagged its ways back up the eastern US states and got it 3 weeks later.

Agree about having hesitation on using etrailer because of their attitude around USPS. Besides that, I like using them.
Recently made a large order with etrailer and was UPS (phew).
But for small and light items, I look at Amazon or Walmart so I can avoid USPS.

The advantage to using Amazon is customer service. I ordered a bike part on Amazon some several years back which shipped from a 3rd. party in CA., USPS. It never arrived and when I contacted the 3rd..party they directed me to initiate a search via the USPS. I'd rather chew broken glass and not having any any leverage, I however knew someone who did. I contacted Amazon.explained the problem and the 3rd. party suppliers response and the refund was credited to my CC in 15 minutes.
Walmart is getting a decent ground game going with e-commerce as well.
I think if you're building an e-commerce enterprise with USPS as a partner you're in for a rough go. The USPS today is mostly just a junk mail distribution system.

I use e-trailer occasionally and have never had any problems.
The one time I needed to return a part because of a mistake on my part they were very helpful and quick.
