Resolved Is there such a thing as a quiet water pump for RV's?

I really don't want to hear my water pump. I have the REMCO AquaJet RV 5 GPM 12V pump. It works fine but it's an interesting sounding pump at times. I considered replacing it, maybe it's something with this one, or even going back to the 3 GPM version I have as a spare under my bed. It uses rubber shock dampening grommets which seem nice on this water pump. But the sound is just odd.

I researched quiet water pumps and the reviews are mixed both on the lifespan of the pump but also noise levels. Shurflow seems to rank high as does seaflo. But maybe there is simply no such thing as a quiet water pump. But I seem to recall my original shurflow was pretty quiet, so maybe I do need to go back to that brand.

What's your opinion on a quiet quality water pump for RV's?

When my water pump went out and I replaced with the Shurflo you mentioned which what the previous one was. I was amazed at how loud it was but with some investigation I found I had tightened the mounting screw down too far which didn’t let the rubber feet to absorb the vibration. Loosening the mounting screws made a drastic change in the noise level inside the coach.

I wouldn't call mine loud but I do hear it when it runs. This has been handy when my tank starts sucking air I can hear the pump running without call, keeps me from letting it run and possibly burn out the pump.

We don't hear our pump at all. It's located in the wet bay which is below the bedroom. I think the bed mattress helps to deaden the noise. Depending on where your pump is located, can you install some Styrofoam insulation around it?

All pumps use some mechanical means of moving water, which is going to create sound. I suggest installing the pump in an insulated box. Or...wear earplugs.

I guess the lesson is don't install with a power tool. This was it. Thank you @NWIP. I loosened the four bolts, not fun but got them and now I can barely, if at all, hear the pump running. This pump comes with nice vibration damping grommets, I guess if you use a power tool, I'm not going to say what I may have used it defeats it. The vibration coming through that plastic wall is a lot. Wooohooooo!!!

Good to know that loosening the screws solved the issue for you.
Moral of this story - sometimes having some screws loose is a good thing.
