Big snow storm coming on Sunday 12 to 18 inches. Batton down the hatches. The snow people are all ready going crazy and running around to the stores buying up all the milk, bread, and eggs......LOL

I worked in the grocery business for 15 years, it never ceased to amaze me how people panic before a big snow storm. Us from up North...... ahhhhh grab a couple more six packs of beer will ya. Oh yeah, and get some popcorn.

You should see it here in Texas, grocery store shelves emptying, Harbor Freight sold every heater and generator in the E. Plano store by noon yesterday. Home Depot sold out of generator's ( some will get a wake up call however when they go to return those generator's after this blow. They now require all returns of generators to be channeled through the manufacturer). The gas pumps at Sam's Club yesterday were a case study in widespread panic bordering on a full scale riot. No one was murdered thankfully.
That's nothing though, wait 'til an inch of snow sticks to the roads, you guys up there would love that charlie foxtrot of a show.

:). All I care about is running out of coffee or losing electricity.

Coffee is easy to stock up on. Electricity no problem, I have two propane powered Generac generators, each has its own in ground 500 gallon tank. One for gun shop one for the house. Best investment I have ever made.

Not to mention I have a wood stove in my finished basement with an unlimited amount of wood supply.

My southern neighbors still need to be careful. Especially the motor homes being camped out in the snow and ice..

Be safe out there.

Icing up already this morning in the DFW. Streets have a light dusting of snow covering a thin layer of ice. So far the trees aren't heavily iced over which is when the problems will start.

OK, it's cold (-4 ambient) I have to wear long gym pants to the gym.

We dodged a bullet in N. Texas, not nearly the ice predicted, roads and sidewalks iced over but not much in the trees and on powerlines. Most folks never lost power for a minute, even with the grid under enormous pressure. Most schools and many non retail type businesses still closed.

Welllllllllll we got blasted again Sunday with 18 inches of snow. The temps are below zero at nigh and the highs are in the low teens. Last night, Tuesday it was a -6 Below zero. On Sunday we were getting almost two inches of snow an hour.

I knew I would have to plow more than once to keep up with the storm. On my second plow attempt around 4:00 PM I knew I waited to long. There was over 8 inches additional new snow on the ground, I plowed down my 225 yard driveway, but never made it back up. About 1/3 the way up my 4 wheel drive Jeep just couldn't make it in the deep snow. Trying to go up my 12% grade, I slid backwards down the hill and got the plow caught on my 4 ft high steel gate post. End of song end of dance... Could not move upward, hung up and couldn't move backwards.

The wind was howling like a banchee at about 25 mph crosswind. It's dark and the it's snowing so hard I can't even keep my wind shield clear. At this point I knew I was screwed blued and tattooed. Now for the treck up the driveway with snow up over my knees to make it home.

Monday morning was still snowing until 11:00 AM. I had to figure out a way to get my Jeep out of the ditch and clear the plow of the gate. I knew my 4 wheel drive Ford F150, on a steep incline would not have enough traction with a rope to pull it forward. Then I had a brain fart. I got my Kawasaki Teryx side by side out, it has an 8000 lb winch on the front. I drove it down the driveway and braced the front end up against a tree, hooked up the winch and pulled the jeep forward. Finally got it out. What a goings on.

And you guys wondered why I want to spend a few months in Florida....LOL If I get a chance I will post a few pics. I hope you Florida boys get sunburned !!

My biggest problem right now is a 1.5-2” layer of ice on my 300’ driveway. I have nothing in my quiver that will penetrate it short of a manual effort with a pickax. That ain’t happening. And in these temps, I don’t think ice melt will do much either. So we got that going for us. Which is nice.
