Tip Keeping slide protector pads in place

I learned this one from @Richpatty as I've been dealing with my slide protectors moving and I have some tile wear from rollers I need to polish out. Recently I bought "rug grippers" from Amazon and put one on the underside end of the slide protectors. They have some adhesive left and will get less tacky over time but we'll see how it works out. So far so good after a few weeks of use.

Neal, I don’t think you can polish scratches from the tiles. They are like scratches on glass. No way of taking the out.

I'll bet Neal has a modified floor buffer powered by one of those GE TF34 turbofan engines used on the A10. Plenty of power to buff scratches out of tile, asphalt, concrete, etc. Neal is the reincarnation of "Tim the Toolman."

My slide protectors have sat in the basement since day 1. Do you suggest using them? I could never get a straight answer out of the dealer that it was necessary.

I have slide a few hard to see slide roller marks, you can see them in reflection situations. You may be lucky. I've always used slide protectors but they can move as sometimes the rollers don't hold them in place or they got pushed when retracting the slide. Depending on your floor type, mine is the polished glossy porcelain is probably part of the equation. If you have a non glossy floor such as the king aire floors then it may not be as much of a problem.

This could have been a post from me last spring. My dealer, North Trail, specifically told me what they were but also said I would never really need them. We finally observed 3 or 5 marks on our floor where the rollers sit when the slide is in. So we began using them and it was like a "whack a mole game" trying to keep them down while the super slide came in!

After following a thread on iRV2 about this I ended up following one of the suggestions. I heated up the ends of the plastic protectors while clamped in my vice and put a 1/2" bend on them. Tried using them and found the bend was too long. Now I have 90 degree bend cut down to about 3/8" and it works good, no more moving around. We will see how long they last after doing this.

I think the original design by Newmar did have 90 ends on them with a small lip. They then went to the current style that are strictly flat.

Pad Question: We bought a set of pads for our new coach while in Napanee. Yet to use them, but;
If you use them do you leave them in place, or remove them each time you put your slides out?

Thought I might get some of those "sticky pads" and place them on the ends inside the coach to see if they would stay in place.

What's yall's experience?

I stow them on the side of the bed. It's not something I want to see all the time. They're ugly IMHO. If you don't tack them down they'll be a slip hazard.

That's smart. I set them on the side of the bed between the cabinet and the wall. Someday it's going to leave marks so I need to reconsider this. Twice now I've had to retract the slide for some reason such as moving the coach or weather and didn't put the protectors down, slide came in and protectors went aft of the cabinet, one time retracting the slides they got jammed and it was a situation. So be careful where you stow them if you forget they are there and don't use them. You know me, Darwin at work.

Glass polishing kit from Eastwood. I had a glass installer polish out two small scratches on a new windshield that was just installed. This was the second windshield that had been put in that had scratches. The glass broker sent out a different installer to buff out the scratches. This is one of the reasons I went with an Essex flooring in my 2020 NADP...it’s not as polished, and has a bit of a wood look to it.
