Hi all, new to the forum. I have a 2019 Mesa Ridge Light 29RL and the kitchen slide is starting to get harder to bring in & out, the right side sounds like something is stuck under it and it chatters and groans. I was guessing the roller on that side (under the fridge) was frozen or bearings out. The RV dealer said he would have to take the whole slide out just to change the roller and couldn't give me a labor estimate. Anyone had the same issue and is this something I can change myself? I'm pretty handy.

This is the exact reason I'm looking for a decent deal on something with no slides. Do some YouTube searching, there's lots of vids about working on slides, some of them are amazingly simple, others are a real cluster.

Thanks, yeah, I've been looking. I'm assuming it's a Norco/Bal accu-slide system since that seems to be the most popular.

thats a pretty new unit to have a roller shot, I assume its a cable slide? One my last 5th wheel it had 1 cable slide and I had pretty much the same, groaning and chucking, we had a pulley bracket break loose from the wall and cable break, I took the woodwork down and re-fastened the bracket with bigger lag screws and bought the cable kit, plus a spare and the crimping tool, replaced cable and good to go, took about 3 beers time to complete

Thanks, that could very well be it as the left side tries to continue going out. If I push on it while holding the out button, it will eventually go out and if I pull on it when bringing it in, it will slowly come in. I'll pull the woodwork this weekend.

Is it a cable slide or Schwintek slide?

I'm not sure, going to take the trim off this weekend. I'll post some pics then.

The manual says it is a Norco cable system, but when I took the trim off, there are no cables. I looked online at the Schwintek system and mine has 2 of these rails on either side of the kitchen slide. One at the top and one at the bottom. The bottom right is the one that is making the noise and chatter.

thats a Schwintek system, I had those on my last 5th wheel, never had a problem so I have no maintenance experience with them, are they loose?

The rails are not. The right side starting groaning and sounding like there was something stuck under it the last couple of trips out last season, but I ran it out and looked under the bottom seal, but didn't see anything. I'm going to try and sync the motors based on a YT video I saw this morning and see if that will help.

The biggest thing I had to remember when putting in or out our shwintech slide on our last coach was the five second continue to hold after it was completely in or out.

Never had an issue with ours either and it was a 2014.

on our schwintech slides, dealer told us to never stop once you start deploying/retracting as this can get them out of sync, sounds like that might be the problem

I contacted Lippert and they sent me videos on how to sync the motors electrically and manually. I was able to get it pretty much back to normal by taking both motors out and pushing the slide back in by hand, although it still didn't line up perfectly, still a little groaning, but it's much better.

I don't know if you have fixed it yet. My guess is the roller bearing is shot. The track in the photo is now worn out and even if you replace the roller it will more than likely skip when it gets to the worn area. I just replace both tracks and rollers on one end of my slide. It was not a difficult job. My coach is Thor built the outside is riveted in I positioned the slide about 2/3 the way out and held the slide in position with a jack while I took all the screws out on the inside once the motor is removed the rack can manually be moved to the outside. Once clear of the body of the coach the bracket that holds the slide bearings can be taken off by just pulling it away exposing the slide bearings and shaft. You then will remove the screws on the tracks and remove as a unit. I slide the shaft up to release the lower track so I am only working on one at a time. When I put it back together with new tracks and rollers I install the upper bearing on the track with the gear and shaft attached. I then mount the lower bearing move it on the track once it is on the slide into the correct alignment with the upper track and insert the shaft. Then reverse the procedure going back together putting the rack back into the coach body. I replace the rivets with screws. I use only stainless steel hardware when I put it back together. Once all of the fasteners are in I hooked up the motor.

I completely forgot I had purchased a full 5-year extended warranty on the whole RV. It is now at the dealer getting repaired while we stay indoors at home due to this stifling heat wave!
Thanks for the post though, I iwll print it and keep it handy if anything happens again. Also, I think I read somewhere that Lippert has discontinued the 2-rail system and gone to a 3-rail due to the weight of the slide-outs.
