I spent the day yesterday at the NASCAR Champion Cup Series race at the Phoenix Raceway with Jimmie Johnson and the Newmar crew. My son flew down from Denver and my son-in-law flew in from LA to spend the day with me. It was an awesome day being shuttled down to the pits and back up to the Legacy Motor Club VIP Hospitality Tent during the race. It was nice to hang out with Jimmie and his team along with Casey and the other corporate Newmar crew that were there. My buddy Damian, the NewServ mobile technician who used to service Arizona now located in Southern California, was in attendance. Newmar was well represented!!! Being down in the pits during the race is an exciting experience during the pit stops!!! I will be attending more races next year.

What is Newmar getting out of this relationship with NASCAR?

Living your best RV Life @No Plan. Love to see it.

What is Newmar getting out of this relationship with NASCAR?
Hi Noplan, glad you had a great time. Good to hear.

But I have to wonder how many folks who are potential Newmar customers are also NASCAR fans? It just doesn’t seem like a match….but what do I know.

It would be good to see them spend more time on improving their process and engaging their employees than NASCAR…

The NASCAR teams and drivers are motorhome customers. In fact any traveling entertainers are potential RV customers. That said Newmar does need to step up the quality of their products.

We have yet to finish a long trip without a major issue, whether it be mechanics, house or electrical issue. Last major trip cost me a water pump, sink, and developed a new coolant leak.
Coach is still parked waiting to get the coolant leak repaired. Hopefully Mark, Newmar Mobile Tech, will get it resolved on Nov 10 visit. I am sure Newmar will not foot the bill though I will ask.
This is all within less than two years. And NO we are no full time, thank goodness and the Coach is parked in a climate controlled garage.
In the aviation world this is referred to as a Hanger Queen,

I hope they do sell a ton of RVs to these national figures that have a great media presence.

Imagine 5 Newmars with broken slides, broken steps, and the drivers wife’s unable to get a warm shower due to quality control issues.

Imagine the Newmars agent explaining why you should ignore the TPMS provided by the factory, or why you have to go out side and reset the breaker every time you want to move the slide.

Imagine the outcry from normal customers when a celebrity gets priority road side assistance yet we can’t even get service when away from our local dealer.

Casey’s plan doesn’t seem well thought out, but I fully support it.

Scrooge is enroute estimated arrival in 45 days or so. Let's not rain on @No Plan's parade and share in the joy he's having with his coach. We can discuss (politely put) the focus of LMC by Casey in another thread as desired. I know we all want Newmar to succeed and thrive and I better stop this sentence here.

For the NASCAR fans, keep sharing your pics. Using your RV to take in sporting events, airshows, etc. is a great use of a RV and reason to use it. It sure makes life a whole lot easier at the EAA AirVenture event I go to typically annually. Hotels would suck and are super expensive. Now if only I could get my coach inside AT&T stadium I know the chics would dig it haha. Okay, maybe not, but the bail bondsman would.

We spent a few years following Nascar in our previous TT and, before that, tent camping. Bristol, Vegas, Texas Motor Speedway, Kansas are just a few of the tracks we've had the pleasure of visiting.

I envy you , No Plan.....we've managed the infield several times, but never actually got to pit row before or during a race. That must have been a special experience!!

I have been involved in motor sport racing/competition for my entire life... primarily motorcycles but road course racing in sport cars too. If it burns fuel, goes fast, is loud, competitive, and dangerous, I'm all in. Today because of age, multiple injuries and being surgically bionic, I am limited to straight line go fast competition riding motorcycles on the Bonneville Salt Flats. My post sharing my awesome day hanging out with Jimmie and his Legacy Motor Club team, my son, and son-in-law, was something I thought people here might appreciate. NASCAR scratches that itch for me. Additionally, to share my fantastic social experience with the corporate attendees from Newmar who is an Associate Partner, not a Primary Partner, of Legacy Motor Club. There is a long list of companies that are Primary and Associate Partners. Clearly these companies are achieving some benefit from their relationship with Legacy Motor Club and NASCAR. Yes, a number of NASCAR teams have Newmar coaches as well as Prevost, etc. People that attend the races have Newmar coaches as well. The RV lot was packed with Newmar coaches which is why the NewServ mobile technicians were at the race.

My post wasn't an invitation to be hijacked by those here who want to turn it into their personal b*tch fest about Newmar as a company, or any of their corporate personnel. For those here that complain about the product, corporate business plan, or employees that complain about how they are being treated, feel free to open your own thread to have that discussion. If you are unhappy with the corporate business plan, buy Newmar and run it as you see fit. If you have input how how you think Newmar should be run, make an appointment with Casey and have a one on one conversation. Casey is very approachable, communicative, and a decent person. If you don't like the product you have a lot of options who manufacture high end motorhomes you can purchase.

If my post offends any of you I apologize.

Hey @No Plan, my post was the first in this thread to question the relationship. It was a genuine question on my part and I thought perhaps you had some unique insight to share. I recall when it was first announced, and it made little sense to me then and I have seen/read nothing in the interim that satisfied my curiosity.

No Plan, appreciate your sharing this with the Group.
In the past I was a big fan of NASCAR, back when Petty, Earnhardt, Pearson, Yarborough, Altrip, Allison, And Smokey Yunick (one of my favorite mechanics/engineers), Wood Brothers, Shelmerdine.
The list goes on. Some of the Sunday battles were legendary, short tracks to the banked ovals, every Sunday during season.

I watched some of this the other night, did that 19yo win or place? I need to check the stats.

Other than as I stated, Newmar is an Associate Partner with Legacy Motor Club I don't have any insight as to what Newmar is looking to achieve. As I also mentioned, a number of NASCAR teams have Newmar coaches. In fact, a neighbor of mine here in Casa Grande has a King Aire that was once owned by Cody Ware who happened to finish 7th yesterday. Also, as I mentioned, the RV parking lot was packed with Newmar coaches who attended the race yesterday as they do all year around the country. Clearly it's a marketing effort in my opinion. People who purchase motorhomes come from all walks of life... it's obvious from my experience NASCAR fans like Newmar coaches. I didn't ask any of the Newmar team what the expectations were with this relationship. Personally I don't care as I purchased my Newmar prior to this relationship being established and would have regardless of this relationship.

Jimmie is having a new King Aire being built for the season next year. I saw the build sheet pictorials and it was a very impressive custom build. If anyone is interested his current King Aire is for sale.

I don't think the pursuit of NASCAR is anything new. I saw a video somewhere in the past few days of Ken Williamson (remember him, the super nice guy that used to do the marketing videos) talking about a custom 2014 King Aire for a NASCAR driver.

I’ve officially resorted to a full-scale financial excavation, checking under the sofa cushions for quarters, rummaging through old coat pockets like a raccoon with a mission, and logging into my bank account while the teller laughs so hard she nearly falls off her chair.

I even called all my friends (both of them) and watched them apply the ancient art of selective hearing. So yeah… let’s just say the outlook is about as bright as a solar panel in a cave.
