We're in the final stages of deciding between the lance 2185 and the Flagstaff 25BRDS. we're leaning flagstaff right now just based on the price. it sure seems like you get a lot for your money with the Flagstaff but the final hang up is clearance

WHen level the bottom of the front stabalizers on the flagstaff are 12 inches off the ground. As you can imagine in CO flat ground is an uncommon luxury and I'm very concerned about that little clearance with a number of the places I commonly go for elk/mule deer/moose.

So my questions:
1) Has anyone here solved this issue on a flagstaff 25BRDS specifically? If yes, what did you do and how much clearance did you achieve at the stabalizer jacks and at the axel?
2) Does anyone know of a lower profile stabalizer jack than the scissor jacks the 25BRDS comes with and have you installed them? If yes, what are they and what problems/considerations should I have in mind if I go down this path
3) THe 25BRDS has a torsion axel. the man at the dealership is telling us you can't lift those without thousands of dollars in work but I see kits to lift torsion axel campers online. is there a nuance I'm missing or is this guy just completely full of crap? Any problems or concerns with lifting a camper with torsion axels that I should be aware of?

Thanks

I can't imagine a place that you would need to have axle(s) off the ground to get level. Normally a person would use blocks to get the trailer level side to side first, then unhook so you can level end to end. Far as jacking the trailer up, how would you change a tire on the side of the road? Use a jack on the frame and jack it up. Ask the salesman how to change a tire..........Shouldn't be $1000s worth of work...........

Thanks for the response but I’m not having a problem leveling. It’s a clearance problem. I need more clearance under the camper and at least under the stabilizer jacks that hang very low under the camper

Ah, I think I understand now. You want to raise the trailer. Then use some C channel to make a box the width of the frame and the length of your suspension mounts, cut the mounts loose, install the box and then the axles. Sounds simple, but it's a lot of work.
