Hello, we have an Interstate 24 GT with a single Lippert Step that extends and retracts as the side door opens and closes. This step is no longer working. We can hear the motor run. It sounds like it's going through both the open and close cycles, but the step does not extend or retract on it's own. Any ideas on how to disable this step so we can use it manually? We are not close to a dealer for repair.

Thank you.

You need to crawl under and look to see if the drive arm is disconnected. Also the motors have plastic gears which can break.

You most likely stripped your half moon gear, very common. There’s also one another type of gear in some of the lippert steps. I did my own. Keep it greased, clean and don’t let people step on those when they’re coming in and out. See below photo, also I added electric Killswitch. It seems that switch in house, constantly turning off by accident. And steps go in and out when the door opens or close as I get tired of it specially when camping for long periods. Can’t disable for manual use, can disable so it doesn’t open by pulling the wire underneath attached to motor.
