You’re talking my language now! What kind of race cars?

Those are fun little race cars and descended from what we called "HardTops" back in the '60s. They were '36-'48 year models on the original frame, open wheel (no fenders) and running modern (fort the time) V8s limited to 305 CID. I crewed for a friend who ran one. The track was a 1/4-mile clay oval with banked turns. It was always well-prepared and fast.

Sadly, a housing development eventually forced the track out of business. When it started, the track was "in the middle of nowhere," but the housing developers moved in and then complained about the Saturday night "noise." That wasn't "noise," it was music to a racer! ;)
