Magneshade performs well by blocking the sun/heat before it goes through the glass.
I made magnetic screens for my cab door windows using 3m magnetic tape. It worked out very well and added a lot of bug free ventilation to the motor-home. It might work for shades as well. If you cut to fit like I did, you won't see any magnets at all.I suggested to Magneshade long ago requesting flat black magnets as the shiny chrome are just eye sores in the window. I just had my windshield replaced at Newmar and drove it home and something was missing. MAGNETS - what a relief to not see those things! Before I reinstall the magnets I'll be painting all of the chrome magnets FLAT BLACK to make them more subdued. Will let you know how it goes once reinstalled.
I have to install my windshield and driver/pass windows. Wondering which neighbor is gonna get the callOld Thread. New reply. MagneShade was here at the Newmar WY rally. They were super super busy and had lines at their huge tractor trailer.
A fella knocked on our door last week. He had a shade from his previous BayStar that had been used two times. We bought it for $325. We bought the silver magnets at the MS trailer.
I could have had them install the magnets, but instead, I saved $200 and spent about 3 hours doing the job. A couple of neighbor Newmars helped.
Boy oh boy, were those magnets hard to work with. They flew off to parts unknown above the wooden facia board (someone had extras for me); they kept trying to attach to the shade metal framing instead of the window/outside magnet; the sticky got toooooo sticky and melted on the hot windshield (so we stopped and worked in the afternoon when the WY sun wasn't so hot); I got tired of sitting and crawling around on the dash; two of the thicker magnets snapped together in a helper's hand, which gave him a blood blister and then both magnets shattered!!
Shoulda spent the $200!!!!!
And if they are irritating, I'll paint the inside surface of each magnet black.
