Random question. I am on Medicare. Besides two meds I am pretty healthy. I see my Dr. twice a year for new prescriptions. When we go full time RV will we need to schedule trips back twice a year or how do you handle routine meds?

I too am on Medicare. Assuming when you go full time you will not have a real residence other than your RV. You will have to establish a domicile for driver's license, state income tax (if applicable), vehicle titles/registration & other 'stuff' to include Medicare. Based on your post, it suggests you will still have ties to where you are presently. With that said, any national pharmacy can fill your prescriptions if the prescribing doctor sends them there. Presently we are using WalMart & when we need a prescription refilled we give our Dr. the local WalMart information & pick up the prescription there. I'm limited to a 90 day supply at a time. Have not figured out how to get more than that.

We have lived in Texas for 30+ years. One of our daughters lives her also and we will be using her home as our “residence” address. We get our prescriptions from Walmart but, normally, only see the Dr. Each 6 months and get a 6 month prescription.
Maybe we can talk our Dr. into a virtual visit for the mid year check up. Except the Dr. normally wants a blood work up.

If your Dr requires you to see him/her every 6 months in order to renew a prescription then you have no choice but to visit somehow. I would bet it will work via video unless blood work is required. As for prescriptions, if they are current, just stop at any Walmart and they will call your current Walmart & get the renewal for you.

I see my doc in person once a year and he gives 90 day prescriptions with 3 refills. For first 4-1/2 years of fulltiming I refilled at the closest Walmart to my location/travels. Starting this month I am using Amazon Pharmacy. Costs less and they will ship to whatever address we provide. It was easy to set up - and once set up it is very very easy to order Rx and refills (similar to ordering from Amazon Prime).

Hmmm.

A doctor can certainly order blood work for you have it done by a number of places that do these tests as their principal business. Quest Diagnostics is one. Testing clinics around the US. They can draw your blood, run many tests and send the results to your doctor. Your doctor is probably sending your blood vials to them anyway. It’s not like he’s going in the back and putting it into a centrifuge.

Great thought on the Diagnostics center. Hadn’t considered that. May be the answer.
