Wondering if any other Crosstrail owners on the Forum have enhanced the insulation on their Coach and willing to share tips.
The stairway into the coach as well as the wheel wells are 1/16th steel, and completely non insulated. These are major sound sources as well as major thermal transfer conduit.
As well the B Pillar seems lightly insulated.
Any shared experiences/suggestions Most welcome before i delve in before winter.
I've already insulated the battery bay ( I've 2 x 400amp Renogy Li Batts.) with 1.5 inch high density closed cell foam
Thanx.
We have not added any additional insulation. We do close the stair cover and place a throw rug over it making sure it is against the door when it is cold out. This stops a lot of cold air from entering. We have an older 2007 Encore. I am not sure if your unit is the same in the stair area.

How’s the Crosstrail doing in winter camping? What else did you modify or insulate? Please advise as we are starting the same adventure. Thank you

Do to ongoing issues with the integrated Renogy system, we could not place enough trust in it for a 7 week deep winter road trip and stayed with our tried&true Truck camper. Most issues seem resolved now & Plan to leave in it early January.
1. I've ducted a 1" air vent from the forced air heat system into the battery cavity, as well as added a 120v heating pad . Hope this works, I'm nervous but we'll see. Those 2x 400 amp batteries in the typical exterior battery bay take all the room up and make it impossible to slide out with 4x 2ault cables, so seeing the control panels on the top is next to impossible. may have to move inside, but that will be a project.
2 fill air gaps around the exterior of all wall penetration for windows&doors frames. Also check for air leakage/poor fitting on the two rear 42"hatch doors The FR installers left a ~5/8 ' gap on the bottom from a shoddy installation.
3 Insulated the B pillars and the fiberglass nose cone.
4. added a thermal curtain to isolate the cab area.
5 bought good quality, insulated windsheild & side window for the cab & fan shades,, and coach windows use foil insulation.
6. added what insulation i could to the rear wheelwell area.
