A good camp stove! If I buy a new 20-22' trailer, what equipment have you found to be super helpful but not absolutely necessary?
Much depends on what you have as standard equipment. What I find very useful is electric powered tongue jack, proper hitch with built in scale,, propane level gauge, battery charge status gauge, fresh water level gauge, electronic level, generator, surge protector, good water filter, fresh water pressure regulator, drinking water hose.......got enough for now or should I go on???If I buy a new 20-22' trailer, what equipment have you found to be super helpful but not absolutely necessary?
By all means go on. You mentioned a couple things I had not thought about. Does standard equipment vary widely among brands? I'm kind of surprised a water hose is not standard. Is the sewer hose? Power cord? How about chocks and pads for the levelers? What is the purpose of the scale on the hitch? Thanks for your response.?Much depends on what you have as standard equipment. Thanks. If I'm using the same truck to pull the same trailer the hitch weight should stay the same or vary just a little depending on what I put into the trailer trip to trip, correct? The scale on the hitch is useful to keep proper hitch weight. Of course you must first know how much your rig weights to use it.
Depending on how you will use the trailer, solar may be useful. You could put 1000w on the roof. Take the time to see what the "woke" solar fans are saying about the green economy before you buy into it ?.
Standard equipment usually goes hand to hand with size and price. My TT doesn't have an indoor bathroom but having slept in snow caves when I used to climb, my TT feels like the Hilton on wheels to me. For some other folks lack of a bathroom is totally unacceptable. It is all a matter of perception, personal taste and money.By all means go on. You mentioned a couple things I had not thought about. Does the hitch come in a load leveling weight distribution hitch? Something I place much more importance on.Standard equipment usually goes hand to hand with size and price. Regarding the hitch check this website Weigh Safe Drop Hitch
There are different manufacturers out there.
Regarding hoses: I don't think they will give you any hose. Folks with experience in big rigs here may know much more about accessories included in the purchase. If you are lucky, a good quality power cord, maybe. Maybe a 30A/115VAC adapter.
Regarding chocks and pads there is a wide range of options out there. I use these ones and I am very happy with them. Camper Leveler
Not sure I understand your question. It is adjustable in 1 inch increments. You can also flip the L shape arm and get a longer range of heights. Almost double the length of the L arm.Does the hitch come in a load leveling weight distribution hitch? Something I place much more importance on.
Most come with a 25’ or maybe 30’ shoreline cord. Wheel chocks, jack stabilization pads are accessories, in other words, more money to spend. We had to spend another $1500 or so to get what was needed and a few things that were said to be optional, but to me, needed.By all means go on. You mentioned a couple things I had not thought about. In regards to the weight distribution, I couldn't add the bars to the model I have. With around 350 lbs. tongue weight, being an A frame foldable, the Nissan X-terra does very well up to about 450 lbs. tongue weight. Anything above that and I can feel the uncomfortable understeering feeling.
