We’ve opted out of pulling it with a half ton since talking to all you folks!
So apparently pulling it with my company truck on personal time is Ill advised, so we’re back to pulling it with the Yukon XL, obviously we have to install a brake controller or this won’t be safe lol! I will say when I pulled it home with my 2500 that has factory brake controller set at 8.0 it felt like the trailer was slowing us down which is good sign because it’s brakes are in great shape. I’ve been looking at brake controllers and they’re about $200, w/O installation, have any I’ve y’all installed your own and how hard is it? I’m a machinist and mechanic but not an electrician lol
 
I found in our Chev Trailblazer that the brake controller harness was already in place. Just needed connecting. The vehicle had the correct connector already installed. I had to connect the brake controller to the harness and connect the 12V line which went to the trailer connector for charging purposes. So "how hard is it?".........depends on your vehicle. Download a wiring harness diagram for the vehicle for the start.

Also, it is best to go to the dealer with your VIN number and get the towing specs. That might assist in your decisions.

Good "legal" choice on not using the company truck for pleasure.
