One of the electrical elements on my Chinook is not activating i.e. no current draw when the element is selected on the control panel.

Have not opened the unit or begun to troubleshoot yet but would appreciate any electrical wiring info anyone may have.

Anyone know what the electrical resistance should be on a good heating element?

I've worked with ITR troubleshooting other issues in the past so I know there is help there but thought I'd check here first.

Thanks in advance,

I've been through far too many issues with my OASIS including electrical. Kill the breakers (2) and use an electric pen to ensure no power is coming into the unit.

You'll want to inspect wiring where the 120V is coming into the unit (top side).

Remove the hour meter and inspect wires below that and also review the wire connections, some of mine broke at the spades, corroded, etc.

Open the front panel of the unit. You'll see the 12V relays on the lower left. One of these failed on me, ordered a replacement and spares from ITR. They are very cheaply made. However, follow the wires as they come down the left (forward) side of the unit to the relays, make sure all are intact and you can test.

ITR has a procedure for testing the relays, I can't remember what that is. I think it involved swapping the two to isolate one was bad. But you can ensure the connections are secure into the relays, etc. I probably have write-ups on my issues from each occurrence if you search the forum for OASIS.

If anything else jogs my memory I'll add. It's not an overly complex system. Just have to do a good wire inspection as they corrode, come loose, wires have had burn throughs, etc.

Neal is correct. I have also had wires burn through and fail. And I even have a different model. Follow the wires and you will probably find the culprit. ITR is also very helpful if needed.
