I recently had a failure of a tire stem extension. The one for an outer dual that is nearly a 180 degree bend. The tire stem in the wheel was broken off and the tire went to 0 PSI in about 15 seconds. Fortunately I was parked at the time. Very fortunate.
I’ve never been a fan of the flex extensions either. Any extension for that matter
That got me to looking at replacements. I saw again a product from duallyvalve.com. I obtained a kit and set out to get them installed.
The installer I wanted is in north Phoenix. Firebird Tire Service. However, I was in Yuma. I found a mobile tire service and had a replacement stem installed. Since I was already heading to Phoenix, no big issue.
Once I got to Firebird, they quickly installed all 4 stems and rebalanced each tire/wheel.
While I was there I took advantage of getting four corner weights.
I couldn’t be more pleased with the stems and Firebird’s service.
The first photo is of the kit. The crooked one is for the outer and the long one is custom bent to fit through the oval stabilizers that snap into the oval hand hole of an outer wheel to support the long inner stem.
The second photo shows the inner stem and the oval support
The third photo is a side view of the outer stem.
The fourth photo is a straight in view of the outer stem.
It is also visible how well the TPMS sensors are firmly installed.
A shout-out to Firebird. Tires, stems, balance, 4 corner weights and alignments (cold bend for camber if needed). A great tire service company and an FMCA commercial member too.
