P30 wont go into park while running

We have a 1994 P30. When we put it in park while the motor is still running. It won't stay in park. But when the motor is off, it stays in park. Any ideas??

Mine, a 95' had disk! The park brake was a drum brake mounted on the transmission tail and was a brake for the drive shaft. This brake was activated via hydraulics that used a dedicated electric pump. That meant a switch on the shifter or linkage was used!!!

I don't know about drum brakes! Is there a drum brake attached to the transmission tail shaft? If so that is your park brake! Don't trust it!!!

So years ago the Willey's Jeep had a drum for the emergency brake! They would loose holding power after a while. The engine wouldn't hold it on a good grade. Yes sometimes the owner would return to find his Jeep in the bottom of the reveen!

Anyhow Chevy powered there parking brakes with electric hydrolic pump to maintain pressure on the brake.

If the pump runs intermittently,then the switch on the linkage, likely needs adjustment or replacement.

No guarantee, but that's where I would start.
