Expecting closing of my Pebble purchase in the next couple of days. But when I went to HQ for my initial hands-on review, I was disappointed with one feature and wondered if it bothered anyone else or anyone had contemplated a possible solution. In my (limited - years ago) experience with travel trailers, I was use to entry doors that would more-or-less fold back against the side of the trailer when fully open. Pebble entry door stops at 90 degrees. Seems like not only will this be in the way at a campsite (say when using the bug screen and leaving the door open), but could be prone for damage by over-extension of the door past the 90 degree stop. I have seen solutions for French doors to allow 180 degree opening, but that is on a flat wall. Can anyone imagine a custom engineered/machined hinge replacement/extension that would allow the Pebble door to be opened 180 degrees? Would likely require some type of hinge extension that would also slightly increase aerodynamic drag, but I could live with that.
A UK example on French doors can be seen at https://openwideltd.co.uk/

I’ll just say that I like the gas strut assisted Pebble door that stops securely at 90 deg. It provides a handhold while ascending the stairs and is easier to close from inside than our Airstream door.

Makes sense. Since I don’t have real hands on experience yet, maybe I’ll feel the same with time. Thanks.

I have not seen the hinge or strut on the pebble, but it sounds like an upgrade from the cheaper travel trailer door hinge system to a hinge and strut used on larger coaches.
Having to door at 90 degrees, like @JamuJoe said, does provide a handhold on that side while entering/exiting.
