Hello, I have a 08 Tiffin Allegro motor home that I got off an auction a few months back. Someone cut the power cord and I’m having trouble figuring out how to hook up the new one. I don’t have a power inlet and it seems like it needs to be hard wired. Any suggestions?

Looks like the center is the shore power, left is genny, right supplies the panel. Probably best to get the installation instructions for that make/model transfer switch, but installing a new cord (if Im interpreting the first pic correctly) looks pretty straight forward. Follow the instructions on the front cover.

50amp power cord is expensive but available on Amazon. Get one with the male plug already bonded on it to save a lot of hassles from otherwise installing a cheap pos “universal” plug from china and then having it break.

Can you provide another picture like the second one but with the cover of the way showing the stub of the cut off cord? Also you probably dont know why the cord was removed. Since they just cut it, it was probably just some last minute salvaging, but its possibly there was a problem with the transfer switch or it may have some other electrical issue down stream.

So before you install the new cord, turn off all the 120v breakers. When you plug in you should hear a noticable “thunk” when power transfers. Then do a quick verification with a multi-meter, ensuring power is being fed to the panel leads, then turn on your breakers one at a time, and test each component to make sure there are no issues with it. This way you can verify there are no issues with each item rather than trying to trouble shoot the whole rig later.

Hopefully there are no issues, and someone just needed/wanted a free extra cord. But you wont know until you test the whole system and this is something you dont want to discover in a campground miles from home. Good luck - hope it all works out.

I’ll post that picture some time later today. Most likely someone cut it because it was free copper, happens a lot at auctions but that’s great advice and I’ll definitely double check everything. I have campground near my house that I’ll test everything out before going somewhere far. Thanks for the advice!!

yeah I had a $2000 air conditioned destroyed at a rental house for $30 worth of copper. I don’t have printable words for it…..
