Interesting idea. I have an inflatable mattress I keep at the house and have used it before myself when I needed to sleep on the first floor with my dog that got hip replacement surgery. Seemed to be a more compact solution but it goes on the floor.

Something like this:

I am wanting to replace my couch that has a bed in it and replace it with recliners. That would leave me with 1 bed. And I would like to be able to invite my 2 kids along sometimes. This seems to be a good solution. I could keep it in the basement until needed.
