In a 2018 the fakra camera connector for the rear camera is behind the KIB box in the closet. The cable runs down through the engine bay and to the camera above the engine cover.
I know this because Newmar left the connector in the same location on my 2020 but moved the KIB box to the shoe cubby. Thus, in order to access the connector to replace my rear camera I had to cut a hole in the wall of the closet.
Later on Newmar moved the connector to the engine bay where it is ziptied up high near the closet wall.
Here is part of a post I made on the other forum about changing the camera:
The cameras are on 24/7 and it burns them out. If you ask the folks at River Park they will tell you that they only have problems with these cameras in one vendor's product and it is due to "improper installation".
Since the day I bought my 2020 3545, I've unplugged the camera controller in the right rear pegboard compartment any time the coach is not in use. Unplugging the top connector cuts the power to all cameras. I've spoken with Mike at Newmar about this and he agreed it is a good preventative measure.
I've had one camera failure thus far. Unfortunately, the rear camera failed in my coach and the connector was buried inside the closet wall near where the 2019 KIB box was mounted. They moved the KIB box in 2020 but didn't move the camera connector so I had to cut a hole in the wall to unplug the camera.
Newmar's electrical work is borderline incompetent...I always tell people I own an all electric RV made by people who don't use electricity.
Oh, and buy the replacement camera direct from River Park. It comes with all new mounting hardware and gaskets and is actually less expensive from them than from any of the online vendors who sell them. I paid $199 for the rear camera in November 2023.
