Recommendations for favorite rv destinations

One of our daughters has requested my knowledge on what to see, where to stay, and where to have a great meal when traveling. I have resisted, as it is so much after about 20 years. They have a new Brinkley fifth wheel . However, she is tenacious , and I must do it If any of you have any favorite experiences, I would love to print it all off, and put it into my binder I am making for her . Of course, it would be identified as from this fun forum.

When we stayed in the Gulf Shores Alabama area last March, we went to an Oyster Farm. The farm is called Navy Cove Oysters and they do "tours". This isn't anything extravagant, but they show you how they raise oysters.

Cost is $35/person and the main oyster wrangler spent about 90 minutes with us, gave us an overview of the operation, and we consumed about a dozen oysters each while we were there as part of our learning experience.

As a bonus, we left a nice $40 tip and walked out with about 60 more oysters that we took back to the RV. My shucking skills certainly improved from the first to the last one and as a double bonus I still have all 10 digits on my hands.

I wouldn't go way out of the way for this, but it was a fun adventure and there is a great state park right down the road that would take up another good part of the day. We also stopped at LuLu's down the road for happy hour which is owned by Jimmy Buffet's sister and has a vibe like you would imagine.

Our top two would be the Florida Keys and Deadwood SD.

Deadwood and the surrounding areas (Spearfish, Sturgis) are highlights of our more recent travels. The Black Hills are breathtakingly beautiful creations of nature. We stayed at Elkhorn Ridge in Spearfish, which makes Deadwood and Sturgis easily accessible. ELKHORN RIDGE RESORT | Spearfish RV Campground & Tents

I highly recommend viewing the HBO series “Deadwood” prior to going there.
