I’m a newbie, probably won’t buy for a year or so, but as an old sailor I have a hate/hate relationship with those dinettes in the salon. Do you really use them for meals often enough that you need that thing? There will be 4 of us on most trips, and there aren’t many that would be comfortable. I’d rather take it out, put in a nice reclining chair and improvise at dinner.
What do you more experienced road warriors think?

This is all a matter of personal opinion and habits, including the habits of what you like to eat.

Sometimes we use our dinette and sometimes we improvise. Improvising is easier when the meal is a sandwich or something else that can be easily managed. We have 2 large dogs and when eating a meal on a plate with a couple/few different items, it sure it nicer to sit at a table and not have to balance the plate.

Ours will comfortably seat 4 adults for dinner. We often have dinners inside and lunches outside. Dinners are no different from dinners at home. Nice dishes, flatware, and wine glasses for the wine. We aren't rich people trying to look like poor people when camping. A 4-course dinner is normal for us.

The booth and storage underneath are a necessity for us while the TV is not. We like to escape the crap going on in the world. Trees, birds, grass, leaves, small animals, a breeze, and quiet with no electronic stimulation is a good life. Try it sometime. You may find it enjoyable.

Thanks for the info. As a lifelong sailor and sailboat owner, I’m pretty familiar with the elements.

Our 5W came with a dinette and 4 chairs, which we rarely used. The chairs looked nice but were heavy. We rotated the table 90 degrees and gave away 3 chairs. It’s now a desk. No Grey Poupon for the 2 of us, we are full timers and sit on a recliner or the couch and eat while watching TV via Dish. Different strokes for different folks

Our motorhome had a dining table with two large (and ugly) fixed chairs and two folding ones. We ditched the folding ones and replaced the fixed ones with a pair that had some style. The table we changed several times until we finally replaced all of it with a 5 foot counter-height butcherblock which serves as our dining table and auxiliary counter space. If we want to have another couple in for dinner we either serve buffet or we use the patio.
