Still want to travel in an RV within the Vanc Island, the mainland in BC let alone the western seaboard of Washington, Oregon and California. So buy a used vehicle that will meet our needs.

We lived in Sooke for a number of years. Just an FYI. Using BC Ferries got old real fast. Booking doesn't mean anything when sailings are cancelled. We ended up using Washington State Ferries more often. Instead of a 1 1/2 hour trip from Swartz Bay to the mainland (and then fight Vancouver traffic) it took 2 hours to get from Sydney to Anacortes and the ride is ten times nicer. You weave in and out of islands so close that you can almost touch them. There is a stop in Friday Harbor which looks to be such a nice little town. We vowed we were going to stop there for a visit but it never happened . If I remember correctly the price was better with WSF too. The bonuses! Finding an available space on the Vancouver Island is a nightmare unless you go way up north. Finding a space on the mainland is pretty much impossible within a days drive. However, Fidelgo Island has some nice places and it's a lot easier to find a spot. US Customs are actually in Sydney so when you arrive in Anacortes you just boggy off to where you need to go. Our favorite camp spots were Deception Pass State Park and Fort Casey State Park. And you will find the price of fuel a lot more favorable as well as beer, wine and spirits too. If it hadn't been for the ferry issue I probably would still be in Sooke. It's a pretty little town.

Drive safe and have fun!

Darrell

Thanks Darrell for your info! We are actually moving to the mid to north end as we have family. The RV is truly meant for the travel south area as you have mentioned. Thanks again. Rick

Welcome aboard!
