Rubber or metal valve stems

I just had a rubber valve stem fail in the middle of Nowhere, Nebraska. I am pretty sure that it was caused by the TPMS sensor working the valve stem back and forth. It was on a dual, and had an extension on it.
I had the tire store install a metal stem on that rim, but I removed all of my sensors for the rest of the trip.
IMHO, I would go with metal stems if putting something of any weight on the end of a valve stem, just for peace of mind.

I have swapped all stems over to metal, and couldn't be happier. Definitely worth the upgrade having that peace of mind when running sensors👍
