We have two AC units up top. Inside we have 6 air outlets in a line from the very front of the RV to the back. I assume they’re all on one long duct. However, only the front three are blowing cold air and the back three are blowing warm air. So I assume each rooftop takes care of three outlets. The thermostat shows zone 1 and zone 2 but both do the exact same thing. All 6 outlets blow all the time with the back three always blowing only warm air. Can anyone explain this to me?

Also, if one AC unit is no good can I just disconnect it somehow? The bedroom at the back is boiling. I can just install a window unit for now but I don’t want the warm air being blown in from the rooftop.

One more question, is it normal for the RV to still be hot inside even when the AC is on? It’s REALLY hot here today and the AC has been on for two days and has not cooled down the RV, as though it has no insulation or something.

What year and model?

Based on your description, I would say your rear AC unit is either not operating, or perhaps even unable to transition out of heating mode, assuming it’s a heat pump.

Zone 1 is your living area, and zone 2 is your bedroom and bath. Make sure both zones are set to cool and the target temperatures are set accordingly.

Does sound like one of your units is unable to start the compressor. have you tried power cycling the entire coach? turning off all the breakers inside the coach (120v AC breaker panel) as well as resetting the salesman 12v switch and the chassis 12v switch (power off for 2-3 minutes on all at one) Have found that sometimes the temperature controller for these hi-tech coaches can be confused, and this has fixed it for us.

Our last 40ft coach had two air conditioners. It never was able to deal with the western temperatures when it was up near 100 outside our current 45’ has three 15k-btu and keeps it cool even today at 106 in Las Vegas. certainly sounds like your rear unit is either non-functional or is not being signaled correctly - try to power idea first

Shouldn't be hard to diagnose the rear air. Either repair or replace would be much easier/cleaner than installing a window shaker.

This bears repeating, my wife (w/o realizing what she was doing) set zone 2 to auto while zone 1 was cool. Zone 1 would maintain the cool setting while Zone 2 kept switching to heat to combat Zone 1.
