My onan 5500 gen has shutdown twice while driving once on the freeway and once while driving roads at 45-50 mph both times with the 36 code.
It has never stopped while sitting still, I did some research online and read about having to much oil and also getting to hot and having fuel issues "vapor lock/fuel pump/fuel filter"
Both times this has happened it was over 100* here in town.
Today I pulled out a little oil still showing almost halfway between full and add and brought it to my house it ran sitting out front for an hour at least then drove it back to were I store it and it ran the whole time. The temperature Today was under 90*
The Gen itself seems extremely hot to the touch and was wondering if this shield under the Gen is supposed to be there? It looks a little homemade-ish. Not sure we're the intake for cool air is but wondering if this shield sending the hot air to the intake and heating everything up even more?
Gen was surfaced a few weeks ago when I got the coach it has 315hrs
All new to this so any comments or suggestions welcome.
First image is upside down and last one is sideways, not sure why.
