An update on our guest: they’re preparing for a cardiac catheterization to check for blockages. The general consensus is that this could have happened at any time, and the effort he put into jacking up the rig may have accelerated it. The couple both feel this was a message from God, a reminder that it’s time to take care of things.

They’re grateful for the divine intervention, recognizing that it could have happened while he was driving, with potentially catastrophic results. They’re choosing to see it all from a very positive perspective.

The insurance company sent a truck to pick up the trailer, which is 37' on it's own. The trailer and truck combined are just shy of 90'. So it looked like it would be a bit challenging to get them both down the mountain. But the driver was a professional as they come, and made the decent perfectly!

The valve at the bottom is a stop and waste valve. I would dig it up, remove the contaminated soil and spray sanitizer on the pipe and valve. A 2 foot dig shouldn't be too hard. With this type setup there is a small chance of a cross contamination of black water entering the water system. That could turn into a liability lawsuit if someone got sick. If you have a powerful shop vac you could try to draw the mess up the pipe. The longer that stays in the pipe riser the more soil contamination you will have

If you have such a valve BELOW grade you need to get it out of there. The purpose of such is to drain off any downstream water from the valve to prevent freezing, when you shut off the feed to whatever it is serving. Normal application would be to serve fixtures that might be prone to freezing when not in use, like a hose bib, water to a exterior fish cleaning sink, barbeque bar sink, etc. You already have a cross connection situation even if you say you never use it, as these valves have a hard plastic washer under the "plug" that will eventually crack.

There are very few bad dogs but large number of bad owners.

I was walking off-leash with my former four-legged best friend one time, and he started barking at a fellow hiker. I yelled out, "Don't worry, he won't bother you". He yelled back with a frightened look on his face, "Yeah, that's what all you dog owners say!" I could not disagree with him.

There is a breakfast place in Stone Harbor New Jersey that has a "Dumb Questions" board with actual questions customers have asked. It's a blackboard with chalk. So it's updated each season. Questions like "What kind of cheese in the goat cheese omlete?" I'd love to see a similar board in a campground office.!
