It does take awhile for electronics to Boot and Start procedures to finish. Typically I turn key and busy myself with other things like setting up GPS. Once warning lamps are off, start engine.

Great idea to use this time to take care of other items - instead of what I have been doing - just staring at the dash/gauges impatiently waiting…
 
I’m on a Spartan chassis and don’t get the wait to start light, however have to wait for emission light to extinguish. During Spartan Academy it was recommended to wait for light to extinguish prior to starting, this also gives time for preheat if necessary.
Note: I’ve gotten in habit of turning key on prior to sitting down, by the time I sit down, adjust the steering wheel, strap in it’s time to turn key. I move slow now that I’m old😢
