I plug my phone into the hdml port on the TV then log into my amazon or Netflix account on the phone. That's pretty much all we watch.

I hotspot my roku without any issues with my phone.

I believe you can use a Fire Box or Fire Stick. Turn on your hotspot on your phone and connect either one of the devices to the hotspot. I stream at home using YouTube TV, and other apps which or loaded or downloaded on the Fire devices.

Isn't Chrome cast the same thing?

Isn't that expensive? On our plan the data disappears really quickly if I do this. We have about 30 gigs of data and unlimited text and talk with Verizon. I streamed a Georgia Football game one time and it used up ALL the data in one day! My wife was not happy.

I use a Lightning (iPhone) to HDMI dongle to watch TV in my coach. What ever you can pull up on your phone will broadcast on the TV. It does not require Wifi.

Yeah, you don't really stream to your own hotspot unless you have unlimited data plan, in my experience. Data goes fast. We made that mistake with an AT&T hotspot device, came with 30gb data, used it in one day and paid a ton in overages.

I suppose it depends on your definition of expensive. I pay $50 for unlimited which includes 30GB at 4-5G and then 600kbp for the rest of the month. That covers me just fine. My daughter has her own phone with the same plan so she can stream her computer for school work, talking to friends and playing games. I also recently decided I wanted a dedicated phone for the RV. For us $150 to cover all the needs and wants is not what I call expensive. We don’t actually need 3 phones but it’s annoying when I take the dog out for a walk and have to disconnect the hotspot to the tv so I can take the phone with or if I want to watch the tv in my room while she’s watching out here.

I guess it is. I actually never heard of it until this post and just looked it up.
