Okay, probably my fault but I'm smoking two racks of beef ribs today on the new Oklahoma Joe offset smoker and the meater is dead, probably just had a dead battery in the charger base but I'm without a temp probe other than manual. First world problems! :) But in watching YouTube videos on offset smokers I'm seeing quite a few of these ThermoPro contraptions. Anyone use them and have an opinion?

By the way @Deer Springs RV Park - an offset smoker on site would be amazing. @GlampDaddy could show up Aaron Franklin and do some serious cooking!

I have this device. I have had it for several years and I love it. I find it to be quite accurate. The only thing is since I purchased this one there are more with wireless probes out there. My next one will be wireless probes. I will say that the remote wireless monitor on my unit is great. The range is way better than I expected. Battery life is also very good.

My meater probe is wireless and works great, of course when charged. I wonder how long these small wireless probes last such as through an 8 hour cook? I'm sure I can find that if I look but it just raises the question of whether the wired option has that safety factor of the probe not dying on you during the cook.
