I am very happy with the tropi-coat. Don't forget the tropi-coat patch first on any cracks after you have cleaned the old garbage away.

I like that solution @DHudson, but it may be more expensive that what someone might want to spend on an older unit. But that aside, it sure looks like the way to go!
