Question Tinned vs ferrule on stranded copper wire

Added a longer wire lead to the surge protector. The existing wire had a square shaped tinned end to fit into the wire clamp in the surge protector.
Not comfortable leaving the loose stranded wire compressed in that fitting. Considering put a compressed ferrule on the wire ends.

Thoughts?

Spoke with Hughes this morning, the important part is that the wire strands are secured in the connector.
I’ll use a ferrule to provide a secure connection.
