Then the dolly would come with them.
Funny, when I had my dog and he was in the yard with me invariably someone would walk by and yell at me that my dog needed to be leashed in his/my yard, "there's a law on that they'd yell". A lot more lawyers in the world than we know, Oh, yeah, my son Is A very successful lawyer who has won national landmark bankruptcy case regarding student loans forgiveness.
Every stop, fuel, bathroom, food, etc. I check the straps. Rarely, actually very rare, do I need to snug up the straps, they stay tight. Perhaps being a swivel deck dolly helps with that. Every few years, depending on wear, I'll buy new straps on eBay, about $34 the last pair I've bought. To date, with the two Master Tow dollies I've had, I've logged in over 85K miles, Coast to Coast, Vermont to Key West.
Now, I never said tow dolly towing was the best way to tow. My initial post was in response to a lot of incorrect information on towing with a dolly. If I was starting a motorhome/RV lifestyle today, and the budget allowed, I. would definitely go the 4 down route. But, I got into the lifestyle on a fly, bought the first used rig I looked at, Tiffin Allegro, and camped weekend at local state parks. Then I bought a great motorcycle rack to carry my vintage 1977 Kawasaki 1000LTD on the back. I bought my first Master Tow Dolly a couple of years later for $950, two months old and never used to drag my wife's RAV4 on.
I didn't want to go through the process of changing cars, or getting an expensive transmission pump when the dolly and car worked for under $1K.
Now, this should make some happy. The downside of dolly towing is if I'm parked at a Walmart or Harvest type setting for an overnight and the ground is uneven, such is the case as I write this at a Walmart in SC, I would have to take the car off of the dolly to use the leveling jacks, which on occasion I have, because the dolly neck would bend with the weight of the car on it.
