The Display on DutchStar dash has a provision to add TPMS for the towed vehicle. Anyone have experience with this feature?

I thought about it.. but decided just to stick with the TST system since if it has an issue its less to deal with and cheaper total landed cost anyway..

I have a Spartan Chassis and love the integrated TOAD TPMS sensor information (PSI and temps) being displayed on my dash along with those of the tires on my rig. I used TireMinder for years on my previous rig and on my boat trailer and its tow vehicle. I like this setup much better. However, some things to keep in mind based on my own adventures:

1) Make sure the dealer orders the correct version of TPMS sensor that is compatible with the system that came on your particular chassis. Mine ordered the previous version (out of ignorance) and it took over a year to sort out that mess as everybody pointed fingers at each other and said "not it".

2) Find out before you order if the dealer already has a partner tire shop who will install these on your TOAD for you or if the dealer plans to hand you a box of sensors and wheel mounting straps as they say "go fish" when it comes to mounting.

3) If you are left to find your own tire shop to install these additional sensors on your TOAD, identify that tire shop first. Many tire shops refuse to deal with tire sensors that are not the OEM ones that come on the car. These sensors are added in ADDITION to those that are already there (Spartan's are strapped to the inside of the wheel using a huge band strap and then the tire gets remounted).

Like I said though, once you have the right sensor versions installed on your TOAD, adding them to the rig is fairly easy and it is great to see their pressures and temps right next to those for your rig's tires.

Best,
-Mark
