Good morning all, I’m in the process of going through the camper my wife and I just bought to get it ready for our maiden voyage. It’s a 2012 KZ Sportsmen 321 BH. I’m planning on replacing the brakes and axel bearings since I don’t know when the last time they were replaced. I’ve seen several kits online for a whole new brake assembly that bolts on. How do I know what size to get?

I would inspect them first. Pull the wheels drums etc, clean and inspect. If there is no galling or damage on the bearing surface you can repack and put new seals in. If not, there will be a part # on the side of the bearing. While off you can also inspect the break pads and mechanical operation. If there good, you just saved a bunch of money.

Most IF they replace brakes buy a loaded backing plate. Few bolts, two wires and done. You need to know what axles are under your trailer to get the correct ones. I would pull the hubs, clean and check bearings and inspect the brakes AND magnets and make a decision about replace or not.

Our 2019 Coachman 201 Ultralite travel trailer wore the left rear tire down thru the steel cord in just aout 10,000 miles. The right front tire wore badly but not to the cord.

The tire shop said the hub ut on the left side was loose causing the tire damage - damaging the brakes and hubs. $450 took care of the tires.

The shop can not find the Denso brakes and hub assembly anywhere. Denso said they are not readily available since they are 1 1/2" rather than the more common 2"

Question:

Can I convert to 2" brakes - I'm willing to buy new axels.

They tell me the alexs are not alignable. Is this correct?
