I’m trying to decide where to put the TST transponder/repeator in my 45 foot coach. Where is everyone else putting theirs? Is it even needed. Some say yes some, some say no. My understanding is that I need it for my toad sensors.
Thanks,
Richard
We have a 45’ with a twin axle trailer. In our rear bedroom we have a 12v outlet next to the bed so I wired the repeater up to a male 12v connector (got it from Amazon for $8) and whenever we are driving we just pull the repeater out of its storage location, lay it on the bed and plug it in.
Without the repeater we would occasionally see a trailer tire sensor disappear. But with the repeater we never see a sensor disappear.
I needed one to resolve sporadically losing connection to Toad`s rear sensors. Mine is mounted in what would be the washer/dryer closet. Power is from the light in the clothes closet.
I bought our TST system at a RV show and I was having a problem with one or two of the sensors being picked up by the control panel. I went back to the show and they offered to come and install them for me after the show. They took all the sensors across the street about 150 feet away and programmed them into the control panel, seems there were too many other TST sensors on coaches around my coach...... They installed the repeater right on one of the chassis batteries (my battery bank is at the rear of coach, curb side), works great.
Mine is in the generator bay, double-sided taped to the frame and covered with plastic. It is wired directly to the house batteries. Works great on 37 ft class A.
