We are selling our home, buying a motorhome and travel awhile . We are unsure of our options on the mail situation. Obviously, we changed everything to online, go green, on everything we could. How long will the US Postal Service hold any mail we may receive, and what are some ideas full-timers have ?

Hi!

As full timers we use a mailing service. There are quite a few available and it seems that they are aggregated in 3 states: Texas, South Dakota and Florida. Each of these states does not have income tax and some of these services are setup so that you can use that mailing service address as your official domicile; drivers license, voter registration, etc.
Off the top of my head here are a few
MyRVMail
Escapees
DakotaPost
America’s Mailbox

Just google RV Mailing service and you will find enough reading to keep you busy for awhile.

We sold our house in Florida. Since we were already Florida residents for work purposes we used MyRVMail as they are based in FL too. love the service and would recommend them.

USPS will only “hold” mail for 30 days. You can do a “temporary change of address” for up to 6 months initially with an extension available for an additional 6 months. And, hopefully, your local post office will be better at it than ours. For three years running, they have failed to implement a temporary change of address for us on a timely basis. Each time, we had to contact the postmaster and get him to sort things out.

If you will be full-time RVers, the best solution is to use one of the services mentioned in the previous post.
