There's no way in heck that engine made it past 20K rpm, more likely less than 15K rpm before all of the damage was complete.

My dad did that on a Ford Escort, I had him turn it into insurance, and they said it happens about once a year....Then they paid for it

I’m a little obsessive about making sure everything is correct before towing. And I always tripple check the transfer case, transmission, key position, and parking brake. I also finally replaced my 20 year old aluminum Blue Ox tow bar this year with a new steel one. Just seemed like it was time although there was really nothing wrong with the old one. Just due diligence I guess.

An "LSX" engine with a mild turbo in that Wrangler would TRANSFORM it and I'd sleep in it because of how much fun that would be. I put an LS 5.3 in my 70 El Camino simply for the reliability.

It might need a different transmission and transfer case when ditching the minivan engine for something with actual torque. The dealer quoting the repair at $30K omitted that $25K was just for his boat, the other $5K was to actually fix the Jeep.
