Water pump running

Last couple of days, in N. Texas, the nights have been low 20’s but days up to 40+. Each afternoon I fill the fresh tank and we use the fresh tank for washing dishes etc. The last 2 or 3 times after filling the fresh water tank and switching to dry camp the water pump would just run continuously. Water to each sink would run but very low pressure. After a couple of hours the pump would finally stop and everything is back to full power. Until the next refill time.

Is this a problem or just normal air in line. Also, no signs of water anywhere or drips anywhere.

I would check you fill valves to ensure they are fully set to the position. These fill valves have anti-siphon check valves built in and could be back flowing. if this is the case it could explain why eventually it shuts off. The valve finally closes.

Do you disconnect your hose after filling? I have never experienced this in our coach but you could be getting air in the lines causing a partial vacuum lock preventing line pressure to build. Check all you fittings to make sure they are tight and not leaking.

Thanks, after filling I do leave the city hose connected. I agree it’s probably air getting in the line somewhere. The pump eventually stops running and them everything seems to work fine until the next time I fill the tank.

Best guess, at this time, is weather related. We are down at the border now with lows in the 60’s. We have used and refilled the fresh tank a couple of times with no issues.

The Park we were at has had water issues when getting below freezing before. The system will freeze and shut down over night then be very slow in restoring pressure during the day even with sun and temps in 40’s.

Do you have tank heaters? It sounds like you don’t have a heated hose. I use both at temps below 32.

I do have tank heaters and I was trying to eliminate a heated hose by filling the fresh tank during the day with temps in the 40’s. Then using the fresh tank during nights. Just flushing and washing up. Using paper plates etc.
