When we bought this travel trailer a couple months ago it had visqueen below the shower sunroof. At first I thought it was a leftover thing from winterizing, but when I asked the owner he said he didn't know what it was and he had just left it since he bought it. When I look close, I see that the plastic actually goes under the screws. So now I'm wondering if this used to be inverted to protect the skylight when it was shipped and it was never removed after the skylight was installed. Does anyone know what this is? Any reason I couldn't just remove it?

Perhaps it was a protective wrapping for the skylight for shipping and the manufacturer didn't remove it before installation...in time it separated and fell. This feels like the "what is it" on This Old House 😊
