I'm posting here what I responded to a private message asking why I moved this post to the owner forum.

I don't think you're going to get an answer. It is probably a custom mod someone made to the coach. No one knows the answer and you probably need to accept that.
 
and it's not a custom mod. Attached is the same thing in other trailers.

It's a spice holder.
 
In years gone by, my silver liner had a drop out bin for whatever the owner felt like using the space for!

We put a striker, some rubber bands, some ties, and other conveniences in.
Manufacturers typically don't offer the space for use in today's market! With the sink behind the panel, as well as the possibility of water intrusion from the sink, it is ignored space in most cases!

There is also a need to keep dumbed down customers, from getting disenchanted because they left something up to the customers imagination!!! That seems to be a nessisary step in producing a product today!!!
 
Man, you're a tough audience. You asked a question and I merely answered with how we used it. Use it for whatever you want to, I'm pretty sure your rig won't implode.
