Question What type of toilet paper to use in a travel trailer

I saw someone recommending using toilet paper that says "Septic safe" and not to buy the special RV toilet paper? Would it be safe to use this regular septic safe toilet paper in a pull behind travel trailer and it not get caught or clogged in the dark water tank?

I use the POMS brand from Sam's Club. Been using it for years. It's only sold by the case however. Small businesses mostly buy it. A case will go a long way.
Otherwise, most any cheap single ply ( and some two ply) is fine. The only thing special about the RV toilet paper is the price.
It's critical too to keep plenty of water in the black tank. After dumping it doesn't hurt to run several gallons into the empty tank and to make a practice of running water into the tank for 15 seconds or so after each toilet use.
I've heard of some who plumb the bath sink drain into the black tank.

All toilet paper is septic safe so use any brand you want and it will not harm your holding tank!

I have ben using Charmin ultra strong in my last 2 RVs. Never had a problem.
There are several people who have done test on YouTube. One built a clear holding tank and mounted it in the back of his truck so you can see what is happening under different conditions. He even shows the old tale of using ice cubs to clean your tank. Do you think that will work? You should go watch the video.

As mentioned above. Use whatever toilet paper that you already is and like at home. You’ll never have an issue if you follow a few simple rules.
1. Never leave the dump valve open when hooked up to a full hookup site.
2. Always dump when the tanks are at least 3/4 full and dump the black tank first then dump the grey while leaving the black valve open to help rinse the black tank

The safest way to keep your black tank from paper buildup is to flush as little paper possible. Most of ours goes in the bathroom trash can and discarded daily.

I have always used the basic Scott tissue that has been around forever. There have been tests done for the best paper for RV toilets and black water tanks and the standard Scott is always in the top 10 and usually ranked better than many RV specific papers. I wonder what the difference is between their standard and RV toilet paper is.

Just fast enough to disolve before you dump! You pick the time!

We use the same tissue in our coach that we do at home Costco two ply. We do have a blast jet in the black tank the we hook up to and run when we dump. We also flush from the toilet when we dump to help keep things clean. The prior owner did not use this process and we discovered some build up that was very solid. We removed this and have been good ever since. That was several years ago.

Angel soft here. Works fine and is dissolved in the tank between dumping.

Even used it in the old RV that didn’t have a macerator toilet with no issues.

Septic safe just means that it will completely dissolve. Angle Soft does that. Also I use Costco Premium because the sheets are strong and a true 4" wide which fits my big hands. I did a test and the Costco paper dissolves just as well as the Angle Soft.
