Jeanette did something a little different with this year's Christmas card to me - she listed our major destinations for the year and it was a really nice touch for our 32nd Christmas together. So, as we slide into the final week of this year, I'm thinking it would be a nice thing for us to tell on ourselves and share where we were.
  • January and February - we were in Mount Pleasant, TX, volunteering at the East Texas Community College. Major effort was replacing a mile of barbed wire fence (along with a half dozen other volunteers)
  • March - we had an appointment at Newmar in Nappanee, IN, then made our way to Dallas to formally meet my nephew's first baby
  • April - Catherine's Landing, Hot Springs, AR, where we met up with 18 RVing friends for the solar eclipse and a week of fun. We made an off-season stop at Deer Springs RV Park to visit Jim and Trish, then found our way to Virginia for a couple rounds of golf and some socializing with Mr RVF himself, @Neal
  • May through mid-September - we had a volunteer gig at the Rhode Island National Wildlife Refuge, camped at Trustom Pond NWR
  • September 26-27 - Hurricane Helene, at Deer Springs RV Park; no damage, but whew...what a blow!
  • October - it was a busy month, starting with a week at the Gulf Shores State Park, then a loosely organized rally with Steve Showalter and friends at Orange Beach, AL (several RVF personalities were there).
  • November - off to Austin, TX for our regular doctor visits, hernia surgery and some recovery time with family in Dallas. The month ended with a week in Palestine, TX, for Thanksgiving and some hunting with family
  • December - we arrived in Alva, FL for our winter volunteer gig at the W.P. Franklin South Lock & Recreation area. We'll be here until April, working on a project called Engineering With Nature and doing some boater education.
2024 has been a bit busier than most years, so lots of notes.
We'd love to hear how you spent your travel time this year!

Cool, you're only about 30 miles west of our winter hangout as the crow flies, but on the other side of the river.

In early June, we went on a 10-day Alaskan Cruise plus a 5-day land package. We saw Denali every day we were there.
We left home (San Antonio area) on July 5 for Colorado where we attended the Newmar Rally in Pueblo when the temperatures were triple-digit.
Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, and Marilyn did all 2744 steps of the Manitou Incline.
Cortez, Durango, Silverton train.
Couer d Alene, ID.
August 28 in Glacier National Park when some areas got 10" of snow.
Yellowstone National Park, Beartooth Hwy, and the Tetons.
Attended a Hoots Rally in Utah.
Hoover Dam, Red Canyon, and several Las Vegas shows.
Zion, Bryce National Parks
Page, AZ
Balloon Festa in Albuquerque.
Approx 6500 miles on the Motorhome and over 5000 on the toad.
4 ½ months.
