Point Hudson Marina & Rv Park, Port Townsend Washington. Great spot on the north end of Puget Sound. Decent WiFi and good Verizon signal. Not the cleanest spot but what a view!

Swore I wold never come back to this campground, but here I am...back at the Fort Collins/Lakeside KOA. Miz Sophie has her surgery on her ruptured ACL next week at CSU. BONUS! Got to meet @GlampDaddy and his lovely wife. Shout out to GlampDaddyMomma as it's her birthday today. ?? Will also post the apocalyptic sun that greeted me when I arrived. FREAKY! @TJ&LadyDi, I did not alter the red sun photo. ? The day after I arrived, it snowed which really helped the Cameron fire and the smoky skies. Cell service is not great here. Posted that info in the Cellular Travel Log thread.

Glad you arrived safe & sound. Maybe we should both turn around and go back and bracket @TJ&LadyDi. Hard to beat Polson. Here’s hoping little Sophie’s surgery goes well. Please let us know. ??

Yes, please keep us up-to-date on Miss Sophie. Hoping that all goes well with the surgery and that her recovery is swift and sure.

Interesting red sun photos, @ARD; nice use of the natural "smoke filter."

Jerry & Judy,
I saw you post from yesterday with a picture of Judy relaxing in the chair. I had to take a second look as I would have initially thought it was a picture of my wife Mary. They could be twins, or at least sisters. FYI, we are originally from Danville but have been full time for many years.

Interesting, would love to meet sometime somewhere. Safe travels to you.

@ARD Sorry to hear about your pup. Our pup tore one of her CCL and they did TPLO surgery. We took it very easy with her for 10 weeks and now she is back to her ole self. I thought that all her jumping up the steps into the coach was what weakened/injured the CCL but the surgeon told me that with a healthy CCL, stairs should not be an issue.

We spent the day yesterday at the horseshoe bend campground in the Pryor Mountains. Huge RV space and only $13.50 a night with water and 50amp electric.

This was a great launching pad for some off reading in the jeep. Climbed from 4000ft to 8200ft and did a loop in 6 hours. Most of the tour companies only go up crooked creek and return on that road. At the peak I took 1018 back to crooked creek and felt that was the best wheeling part of the trip. I was in a stock rubicon and never really needed 4wd on the crooked creek portion. The 1018 required 4wd and 4lo helped. Saw 23degree climbs and 24degree descents.

Here are a few random pictures from the journey.

Leaving pryor mountains there are 2 routes to get to Casper WY. We chose the Alt-14 route as this is our favorite route. The climbs are 10% grades for 8 miles and the views are amazing.

You need an ISL or larger for this route. In 2011 I first took this route with my 40ft ISB and it was very difficult, having to utilize every pull out to let engine cool, and never getting over 5mph. With the 43ft dutchstar towing full size 2500HD pickup I had no troubles. Even more importantly, the descents are also 10% and the engine brake of the ISL does a good job holding it at speed. I have done this route every year since 2011, with 2 stage and 3 stage engine brakes and both work very well.

This is the view of the range as you leave Lovell20200913_102205.jpg

Not quiet the summit which is 9000ft. This stop was at 8700ft.
