YES
Don't ask me how I know.
Okay, I'll tell you then. I haven't winterized and hope to hit the road early January if the planets align. So instead I use the diesel burner in storage to provide heat when necessary. It's been crazy cold, probably record cold here in VA. It was 11 F last night. I check the coach daily via my Internet monitors and temps are all good. Until today. I had a hunch OASIS crapped out on me.
Off to the coach today with compressor, pink fluid, ready to winterize, etc. I open the driver door and see the red light on the OASIS panel. Put the key in the ignition, LOW FUEL warning. Yeah, it's on E, not above it. E!!!
I'm thinking okay, if I can just get 2 miles down the road there is a service station with a truck lane. I fire it up and let it warm up, it goes into high idle for some reason, okay, don't worry, let's go. I put it in drive, remove the air brake and the dash says "shifting inhibited." I've never seen that message before. Hope, not going anywhere.
Plan B
Do the right thing, hit tractor supply right outside the storage facility and pick up 2 x 5 GAL diesel fuel jugs. $40 stupid tax, fine, off to the gas station. I put diesel in them and back to the RV.
Wonderful, these jugs have some stupid safety feature designed for cars that squeezes a trigger and inserting the tube pushes a plunger to allow the diesel to transfer. Amazing how oily slippery diesel is. So I get about 9 gals into the coach and 1 gal on me.
Fire it up, off to the station and fill up. Whew!
Now for OASIS burner. Hope, I hear it, then it dies, red light. I figured it just had to get diesel primed so I did this 4-5 times and voila, we have a light.
So if you think there is some pick up design to prevent running your diesel dry, NOPE, you now know. OASIS burner will use all available diesel.
The end.
