When bringing a firearm into Canada in an RV, you must store it unloaded in a locked compartment in the back of the RV. You must also declare the firearm at the border and pay a fee.
Storage
- The firearm must be unloaded and out of reach of the driver and passengers
- The firearm must be stored in a locked compartment, such as the trunk
- If the vehicle doesn't have a trunk, the firearm must be in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console
- Restricted and prohibited firearms must be in a locked case with a locked safety device.
Just read this news story. It gets expensive to try and cross into Canada with an undeclared. I can't copy the link as the Cdn Govt has imposed a law that will not allow news story links. I had to cut and paste.

An American man pleaded guilty and was convicted of two charges after attempting to smuggle a loaded gun into Canada at the Coutts, Alta., border crossing.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said Randy Kieth Thompson, a U.S. citizen, pleaded guilty in Lethbridge Provincial Court after attempting to smuggle a loaded Ruger LC 380 handgun into Canada.
Thompson attempted to cross the border into Canada on Sept. 8.
CBSA said he declared two non-restricted firearms, but after he was questioned by officers and a subsequent vehicle search, he admitted to having an undeclared, loaded handgun hidden in the vehicle.
He was convicted of smuggling and providing a false or deceptive statement under the Customs Act.
Thompson received an $8,000 fine and a 10-year conditional firearms prohibition order. He was also ordered to forfeit the seized guns and magazines.
